So here it is. My final decision about school and how I want to proceed with my education. It was a hard decision to make. It’s a sad truth that choosing a less popular road when it comes to achieving your diploma can be so extremely diffic
ult. I’m happy with the decision I made. Now we’ll see how it all works out! Having all the knowledge that I’ve gained from this independent study project really helps me to feel unafraid about changing my mind if something doesn’t work out. I know there are SO SO many options out there for me. I’m excited about what comes next!
Founder of a free school for slum children Rajesh Kumar Sharma, second from right, and Laxmi Chandra, right, write on black boards, painted on a building wall, at a free school run under a metro bridge in New Delhi, India. At least 30 children living in the nearby slums have been receiving free education from this school for the last three years.
Tour was great and I was really sad to leave! I do have to say, though, even though it was fun and I got to see some great places, it’s HARD WORK! It’s not all just one big vacation! All the travel can really get to you and a lot of the times you go to these fantastic places, the only places you get to see are the theatre, the hotel and the bus (and occasionally the airport!) So toda
y I’m taking a nice relaxing day off.
I can’t rest for long, though, I still have to have a long conversation with my parents about what happens next. I’m running out of time! The semester ends at the end of the week! I’m still thinking I want to pursue unschooling…but this tour made me wonder if that’s the right thing for me…Doing the tour was definitely an AMAZING learning experience in my specific field but it was hard to find time to really actively try to learn all the other stuff that’s important when trying for your high school diploma…I know regular school still isn’t for me either (i’m DEFINITELY thankful that I won’t have piles and piles of homework and tests to make up from the time I took off for rehearsals and performances!)
The one thing I haven’t done this whole time is really sit down with my parents and talk to them about how I truly feel and what I want to do…also I haven’t really given them a chance to explain to me what they think…maybe they’ll be understanding?? …maybe they’ll have some ideas?? Then again…maybe they won’t listen to me at all…….Who knows! I’m going to have to really think about what I’m going to say and how I’m going to approach this topic with them. It’s all very nerve-wracking! This is MY LIFE after all! I just want to be happy!
Does anyone have any tips on how to make your parents really LISTEN to you and take you seriously?? otherwise, just WISH ME LUCK!
Anonymous asked: I love your blog! I'm looking towards unschooling (and hopefully graduating from college)...got any tips? Thanks!
hey thanks! that’s great that you’re actively seeking out other methods of getting your education. Unschooling looks like a great option, doesn’t it?? And that’s awesome that you KNOW you want to graduate from college because that will help motivate you to REALLY learn the stuff you need to to get there!! As of right now I really have to say I don’t have any tips…I’m in the same boat as you are!! I’ve been thinking about unschooling and although I’ve gotten great advice from people around me, I am unsure about all the specifics…The best thing I could tell you is to find a community of people (maybe check out my friend Nora’s FB or Tumblr—you can find the links on the edzedomega.org website) that are or have been unschoolers/homeschoolers and ask them for advice. The biggest thing I think is to stay motivated. Remember your long-term goals (graduating from college) and KEEP AT IT! Even when it gets tough. Thanks for checking out my blog! Good luck!!
Just arrived in FLORIDA!! I can’t believe my life right now! Getting to travel the country and do what I love! No show until tomorrow so I’m going to try to soak in as much of this beautiful weather as I can! I’m sad We are only here for one day! and sad i have to come home on Sunday :-( I’m having a blast!
whoa whoa whoa hey guys it’s been a while! I’m sorry i’ve been sort of absent from the online world but I’ve just been so busy with rehearsals/preparing to go on the road!! We had our first preview performance last night and it went REALLY well! it was so thrilling to get up in front of an audience and have them all just roaring with laughter and enjoying every bit of the show we’ve all worked so hard on! Here’s a pic of me in one of my costumes for the show (my character has to play Mary in her sunday school christmas program—so that’s why I’m wearing the blue sheet!—do you like my BLONDE WIG?? haha) Now that the show is finally getting settled and the craziness of rehearsals are finally winding down, I PROMISE to post more about all my experiences!! Hope you’re all doing well!
